How many exJWs are now pagan? Why?
by Sirona ini was just wondering how many exjehovahs witnesses are now pagan?
of the exjws i've met, quite a few either describe themselves as pagan or pretty much have "pagan" type religious views.. i wonder if it is a backlash against the control of the jws - to choose a religion which has "no rules" as such.
also, is it rebellion?
-
Ms. Whip
"pagan religion" is natural religion. it's instinctive. human.
when i walked out of the kingdom hall...i walked into nature and buried my closed mind.
i am no longer burdened with the coffin of christianity.
i now think and do things that feel natural to me.
i look back at being a jw and everything about it seems unnatural.
since i was born into the religion, i was coerced from infancy into beLIEving.
everything i thought or did as a witness just didn't seem to fit who i really was. from the clothes i wore, the music i listened to, the people i was around. my natural mind would tell me things... yet i chose to not listen. i would suppress my natural instinct and follow their "rules."
i dismissed dreams and premonitions, i suppressed empathic feelings, i ignored spirit messages, i went against "gut" feelings. i put blinders on, synched up my straight jacket and sat in a kingdom hall void of windows and true light.
as a witness, i swallowed down the artificially created ideology.
as a pagan, i now savor the sweet natural honey of free thought.

"Don't tell me 40,000 people are coming here, they not here. It's too dog-gone late. Get off your asses and let's do something and let's fix the biggest god damned crisis in the history of this Country" New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin

I am ashamed to be an American today.

“A lot of people are working hard to help those who’ve been affected. The results are not acceptable,” he said. “I’m heading down there right now.” -Bush
Dear Mr. Bush,
Since you are facing the lowest approval ratings of your presidency. Why has your response been so slow? Why did you wait until Two days AFTER the storm to "cut your vacation short"? Why are you going to get a second, closer look at the devastation?
NEW ORLEANS is DESTROYED. PEOPLE ARE DYING IN AMERICA! YOUR COUNTRY IS FALLING APART! DO SOMETHING NOW!!!
Sincerely,
AMERICA

I always feel flimflammed when Bush talks. I see him talking, his lips moving but, somehow I feel I'm being taken for a ride. His mind is just not on his prepared speech. Hell, he can't even pronounce the words that were written for him. Don't get me wrong, I love America and I am certainly NOT a Bush hater. Just a rational human seeing something that doesn't make sense.
If a Major Catastrophe had happened to the Suburbs of Washington, Beverly Hills, Silicon Valley or the Chicago North Shore enclaves of Kenilworth, Glencoe and Lake Forest would the Government's reaction have been the same?

Do you still use Jehovah's name in prayer assuming you still pray?
by JH in.
if you do pray, will you use the name that's above all other names....says the watchtower.. if not, what name do you use?.

I don't know what to call the creator anymore. I am practically an atheist at this juncture in my life. However, I would like to believe in God, but I get confused and don't know what to call him, so much of the time I don't address Him in prayer. I am quite gratified with everyone's post here. I usually refer to him as Father. I would like to call him Jehovah, but I am afraid I might want to go back to the Kingdom Hall just to believe in something--so I don't . kazar
the word "jehovah" is a trigger for me. 30 some years as a devoted witness is hard to shake. not long ago, i was in a position where prayer seemed instinctive...i closed my eyes and said "dear... (and i couldn't come up with a comfortable name) " then i opened my eyes. i realized i was on my own. it's a sad thought. i no longer believe in "jehovah" ... as the entire belief structure i held for so long is all wrapped up in that word. i have not found a replacement. i can hold hands with witness relatives while they pray, and bow my head in respect of their beliefs...but, the prayer is meaningless to me. my prayer has been replaced with thoughts of how can "i" cope with a certain situation or how can "i" fix my problem.
